Automated correlation of weather events with outages

Purpose

1. Automates the process of correlating real-time and historical weather events with electrical substation outages to provide actionable analytics and predictive insights.

2. Automates merging SCADA, outage management, and meteorological data for detecting event patterns.

3. Enables automated cross-referencing of outage incidents with timestamps, geo-coordinates, and weather events (lightning, wind, etc.).

4. Automates alerts, reports, and dashboard generation for incident analysis, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning.

Trigger Conditions

1. Automatedly triggered by incoming outage alarm from SCADA or OMS.

2. Weather events received via webhook/API from meteorological providers.

3. Automated scheduled batch jobs (e.g., every 15 minutes) for background correlation.

4. User-initiated query for historical outage-weather analysis.

Platform Variants

1. Microsoft Power Automate

 • Trigger: Automated HTTP Webhook; Action: "Get Weather Data" via Azure Weather API; Compose correlation logic in Flows.

2. AWS Lambda

 • Trigger: "CloudWatch Events" for new outage logs; Function: Integrate AWS Weather Data with outage input; Output to DynamoDB/QuickSight.

3. Google Cloud Functions

 • Trigger: Pub/Sub new outage event; Action: Call "climate.data.get" from Weather API; Correlate in BigQuery.

4. IBM Cloud Functions

 • Trigger: "onNewOutage" webhook; Action: ""weatherinsights.location.getObservations""; Correlate in IBM Db2.

5. Zapier

 • Trigger: New outage in database; Filter: "Only if severe weather alert from Weather by Zapier"; Action: Update Google Sheet for analytics.

6. Salesforce Flow

 • Trigger: Custom Notification; Data Fetch: "Weather Company API"; Correlation via Process Builder logic.
